The Goblet

Álamo Balzer

A young man read about the goblet in the scriptures
He decided to go and started his long journey
Walking barefoot

Sand burning his feet
Before dark he came upon a place to sleep
The sky as a roof
Hidden from danger and wind
In his dream a wise man said

"Use the wisdom you got from me to come here"
It was a promise to that voice
"I just ask you to listen to your heart
Face the snakes and hand this goblet over to me
And change my people's destiny"

When he woke up there was the holy artifact right at his side
He could feel its power to heal or ruin a land
Still a long way to go

Days and nights have passed 'till he found
A poor man lying on a filthy dusty floor
He bowed and put the goblet on the ground
Then he looked into the man's mad eyes
And his tired voice broke the silence
"Don't care about me... just leave me alone"

Those words hit his soul like an arrow
Like an arrow
But he wasn't done

Thinking it was the wise man he had found
But he realized he was wrong

"Hey you! What you're gonna do with your life?"
The beggar took a breath and cried out loud
The solitude has end his empty life
Now he needs a piece of burial ground

Red glowing sun
The long day was over
No time to find a safe place
Tired after the journey he fell at sleep in the desert
Again in his dream he met the wise man
"What can I do?
I'm near to find the key
But uncertainties are twisting me"
There was no answer the wise man just smiled
And the icy night wind cutting like a knife

Next day he finally arrived at the place he was looking for
And handed over the goblet to the wise man of his dreams
Feeling insecure and swallowing the anxiety
Burning in his chest like fire with no flames
He had conclude his sacrifice
Now with destiny in his own hands
He felt free at last and he could dance
Yeah he could dance
He could dance
